Since time immemorial the Indians approach towards asceticism has always been carrying great influence. Because of that people have a genuine regard for hermits and ascetics. We always respect their spiritual merits and saintly lives without contemplating their caste, class or religious affiliation. One way of life in Hinduism is renunciation of the world and asceticism, a path of the sadhu or holy man, who have left their homes to concentrate on spiritual discipline. He is the person who is solely dedicated to achieving the final Hindu goal of life known as liberation through meditation and contemplation of Brahman.

Contemporarily Sadhus have been viewed with a certain degree of suspicion because of the recent controversies involving some people with camouflaged identities, which is a matter of great concern for us. Public take face value of these Sadhus, and worship and adore them without cross checking their credentials. These self proclaimed are doing such with an ulterior motive to take advantage of the religious feelings of commoners while anticipating a productive, respected and protected pleasurable prospect for themselves. These are the frustrated insane who have chosen the path of evil after loosing all hopes in their lives.

We have to be vigil in identifying the fake ones and expose them so that no fraudster in future able to deceive people in the name of spiritualism and supernaturalism. These fraudsters do not believe in any religious philosophy and spiritualism. Their only agenda is to make quick bucks through dishonest means so that they could enjoy their lives by means of 3Ws- wine, women and wealth. We should be careful and differentiate them while visiting and paying obeisance to these. Although distinguishing between real and unreal is a complex issue. People must report to the state law enforcement agencies immediately whenever they come across such unscrupulous elements.

Despite of these isolated incidents, we have millions of genuine sadhus and sanyasis in India who dedicated their lives for the well being of the society, are still widely respected and revered for their holiness
